World War Two Product Documents
Overview

This page added 5-18-2020.

This section contains ten documents circa the early years of World War Two that detail new products especially built for war production.  In some cases the products were similar to the normal commercial pre-war product line.  In other cases, Delco-Remy built other companies' products under license.  This was a very common practice during World War Two, when the original company did not have the production capacity to fulfill the demand the military had for a particular product.  The documents in this section demonstrate many of the issues and successes Delco-Remy had in building these products needed to win the war.

I have done related research on the American Auto Industry in World War Two and the related Arsenal of Democracy.  I have never found any documentation similar to this from other companies that goes into the great detail about individual wartime product development that these documents do.  These ten documents are a unique treasure trove of information looking, back over 75 years to the early days of World War Two.

The documents in this section are courtesy of the Madison County Historical Society in Anderson, IN.  The organization has an excellent collection of Delco-Remy history in its files.  DDJ 5-18-2020

The document below generally describes three different wartime products and how they will be commercialized after the war.  At the end, it mentions how the radio shielding project will aide in the development of television after the war.
